Welcome to our homestead! Our home is a fun one, full of love, laughter, and downright goofiness sometimes! Check in on us as we tend to our rural 2 acres, raise our 11 year old son, fight fires and chase bad guys! ( That's just Greg, I'll stick with the gardening and cooking! ) We pray that we honor the Lord in the process, as we strive to grow in His grace.

Daytona Beach

We arrived home last night from a wonderful, relaxing trip to Daytona Beach. We left the day after Thanksgiving. I was thankful to be feeling okay, I had a bad case of the stomach flu during that week, and was afraid we may have to cancel the trip. I missed Thanksgiving at Lloyd and Bev's, but I was feeling good enough to leave on Friday , and no one else here caught my bug!

The condo we stayed in was like a cruise ship that never left port. There were several pools, spas, a lazy river, snack bars, workout rooms, and even an indoor putt putt! We never left the resort for the first 3 days we were there. The temps were in the low 80's and lots of sunshine. We swam in the ocean and pools, soaked up the sun, and did lots of eating and lounging around. Pure heaven!
The last 2 days of our stay were a bit cooler, so we did our sight seeing then. The highlight of our trip for Aaron was a tour of Daytona International Speedway. We took a tram tour of the track, got to walk out onto victory lane, go into the press boxes, and see the 2010 winning car, plus lots of little extras. It was really cool! Aaron was so taken with it that he barely spoke the entire tour. He loved it that much, and it is hard to make him speechless!!! Later on that day we went to Ponce Inlet, one of my favorite places. We went on a tour of my favorite lighthouse, and climbed the 208 steps to the top. The views were amazing! Then we had dinner at Inlet Harbor, a resturant with great food and amazing views of the inlet. Greg and I had dinner there twice on our honeymoon! We loved it as much now as we did then. ( the food and each other! :)

The last day of our trip we went to St. Augustine. Aaron enjoyed the tour of fort Castillo de san Marcos, a Spanish fort built in the late 1600's. The cannons amazed him! We also made a stop at the St. Augustine lighthouse, walked the old downtown, and had dinner at Harry's Cafe, another place Greg and I ate on our honeymoon. Before we left St. Augustine, we walked around looking at the the Christmas lights, and happened to see Santa sitting in the downtown square! Aaron got the chance to give him his wishlist of Wii games and a Nintendo DSi. He thought it was neat to see Santa somewhere warm with the ocean and palm trees around. Me too!!!

So, now we are home. Not to white sand, but to white snow! I think I am ready to start setting up for Christmas now. The relaxation was desperatly needed, and was refreshing! I would have loved to have spent Christmas there, but Greg said something about needing to come back to work, to make money. Or something like that! This is one of the best trips we have ever had, and I think I am ready to go again.....
