Welcome to our homestead! Our home is a fun one, full of love, laughter, and downright goofiness sometimes! Check in on us as we tend to our rural 2 acres, raise our 11 year old son, fight fires and chase bad guys! ( That's just Greg, I'll stick with the gardening and cooking! ) We pray that we honor the Lord in the process, as we strive to grow in His grace.

Juat Taking One Day At A Time

Life around here has been fairly quiet and uneventful for the past week or so. I have been working on getting us back into a routine with housework and schoolwork. Aaron has been practicing for his state soccer tourneys that are this weekend, and are taking place at my Dad's high school! Greg has spent his days off drywalling the ceiling in our garage. Thanks to Lloyd, Andy and Chris for all of your help! And, I had the task of getting a hot stone massage today. Hey, it's hard work, but somebody's gotta do it!

I am finding that grief sneeks up on you when you aren't expecting it. It seems to hit me out of the blue. Jenny and I went to Dad's house this past Sunday to help Ellie clean out his closet. I brought home some of my favoeite shirts and hats, and we are also having a few shirts of his made into teddy bears. I wore his Margartiaville tee shirt today that I got him a few years ago, and it was comforting to me. I an guessing that grief takes place in all shapes and forms, and I am just letting it happen and not trying to supress it. If I have energy, I work and get busy. If I am having a bad day or a fibro flare, I let myself cry, nap, pray, etc. There is no right or wrong way, and it is different for everyone. I am just thankful to have loved so deeply and to have been loved so deeply that it is worth all of the sorrow. Life isn't always beautiful, but we should enjoy the ride. Whether it's easy or tough.

The next big change at the May Homestead is that Aaron will be starting 4th grade at Brookville schools after Christmas break. This has been a hard decision for Greg and I, but we believe this is the right choice for now. Aaron is a very smart young man and a good student, but is also quite social and he wants to be with his friends. This will be the 1st time in almost 10 years that I will be home without him, it will be a huge adjustment for me! I plan on volunteering in the school's reading program. I also will work on some projects here, as well as trying ou ta few new hobbies. I have always wanted to quilt, and I also would like to lean soap making. So, maybe Aaron and I will both learn a few new things!
