Welcome to our homestead! Our home is a fun one, full of love, laughter, and downright goofiness sometimes! Check in on us as we tend to our rural 2 acres, raise our 11 year old son, fight fires and chase bad guys! ( That's just Greg, I'll stick with the gardening and cooking! ) We pray that we honor the Lord in the process, as we strive to grow in His grace.

Household Hints

I have come across few helpful hints that I have been wanting to pass along. The first one about cooking bacon. I love bacon. Alot. But it makes such a mess in my kitchen when I fry it, and it gets rubbery if I make it in the microwave. So, I decided to bake it! Line a cookie sheet with foil, and set your oven at 350. Lay your bacon on the foil, and place in the oven. Check it every few minutes , it should be nice and crisp in 12 minutes or so. But, it depends on the thickness, so keep an eye on it. For cleanup, carefully lift up your foil, and put in the trash! No bacon splatters everywhere!!!

The second thing is virgin, organic coconut oil. I do cook with it, but I also like it as a skin moisturizer. I keep some in the bathroom and use it on my skin as soon as I get out of the shower. I also put it on my dry hair, leave it on a few minutes, and wash out in the shower. Your skin and hair will be soft and shiny, and there will be no chemicals on your skin. Love it!

  1. Good idea for the bacon Jill! ~~~ I also read in a beauty magazine that safflower oil is very good for your skin, especially for your face & neck.
