As I sit and type this, Aaron and Lacey are up in his room having a sleepover. They are giggling and chatting together, and being downright silly. It brings me joy to listen to them, I am so blessed to have such a wonderful son, and a niece that I love as my own.
During the first part of Aaron's soccer practice this evening, I took Lacey to get a few things for school. Since she is entering Jr. High ( gasp! ) she needed some girly things. So we went shopping for lip gloss, eye shadow and blush, and pretty hair bands and clips. She said she was enjoying shopping with her shopping buddy, and that someday we would be out shopping for prom dresses together! Sigh. I hope that is awhile away, time is moving too quick for me, and I want to keep her young just a bit longer.
Aaron had a great practice and scrimmage tonight. It has been fun to watch him change over the years. For so long he would hang out in the back of the pack, and would kick the ball if it came to him. Now, he is in the thick of things, fighting for the ball, running it hard, and shooting at the goal. I am proud of him, that his confidence is coming out on the field. I think he will have a great season.
I canned a dozen more jars of tomatoes this evening, bringing the total to 43 jars so far. I picked and froze all of the corn that I had left also. It ended up only being 5 quarts, but it was better than nothing, since only about a third of my corn did much this year. The time in the kitchen is relaxing to me, as Paula said, it is soothing. I couldn't agree more.
In all of the busyness, I am trying to take in all of the little things. In the long run, the little things are really big things. All is quiet upstairs now, I think that sleep has won the kids over. Me too. Yawn!
