Welcome to our homestead! Our home is a fun one, full of love, laughter, and downright goofiness sometimes! Check in on us as we tend to our rural 2 acres, raise our 11 year old son, fight fires and chase bad guys! ( That's just Greg, I'll stick with the gardening and cooking! ) We pray that we honor the Lord in the process, as we strive to grow in His grace.

Happy 90th Birthday, Aunt Margaret

We met with my family at Der Dutchman in Waynesville yesterday to celebrate Aunt Margaret's 90th birthday. She is my Papaw's " baby " sister, and is still as spunky as ever! Except for partial blindness due to macular degeneration ( most all of her siblings had it, too ), she is in good health and is very social, and loves to visit family and spend time with her friends in the senior apartment complex she lives in. She had a career as a registered nurse, but her passion has always been for horses, which she rode and helped take care of for several years. She always remained single, but adores all of her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. She is lovingly referred to as Ol' Aunt Margaret! She has a great sence of humor, and follows the same motto as my Papaw always did, " if you lose your sence of humor, you are sunk! " We all enjoyed a nice meal together, as well as lots of birthday cake and fellowship. I also had to get a pic of my nephew Kane, who is growing up so fast! My Dad and Ellie were there, along with Jenny and family, and several of my cousins. Greg was also off work and able to come with us, that was the first family event he has been able to attend in awhile because of work!
