My gardening obsession seems to grow every year, much to Greg's dismay!!! :) We added the flower bed along the side of the barn, which has quickly become my favorite. Along with herbs and flowers, some that were starts from dear friends, I added my Papaw's vintage mower and garden culltivator, rocks and drift wood from Lake Erie, and a memory stone for my Dad. He doesn't have a head stone yet, so I wanted to have something set up in his memory. Greg also put up the antique window frame and window box, it really makes it all stand out. He also plans to make shutters for the frame, I think that will look great!
The veggie garden is thriving, and I will be doing bunches of canning and freezing in the next few weeks. If anyone wants corn, tomatoes, cukes, zukes, and anything else, come and help yourselves! Better yet, come and help me can!!! :)
The birding area has been fun to watch. We put up 4 feeders and 2 houses, and several perennials and sunflowers. I love bird watching. Our newest birds to watch have been the chickens down the road. They have decided that our yard is the party house, and they hang out here all the time. They are fun to watch, and they eat all of the bugs! Better yet, the owners are now bringing us eggs for our "trouble" for putting up with the chickens. They eggs are awesome!!! Its a win-win for us!!! And as always, Peyton is right in the middle of the comings and goings around here. She owns the place ( or so she thinks!)
I LOVE the new flower bed. So many memories in one place....beautiful. I wish I was close enough to help myself and spend a day canning/freezing! Miss you!
