We spent our weekend in West Liberty,KY, which is where Greg's family is from. We try to go to the Sorghum Festival every year, which is the town's biggest yearly event. It rained part of the weekend, but it really didn't stop us from enjoying it! There is always local bands playing until late in the evening, so I went dancing Friday night with Greg's mom Pat. And let me tell you, she can out dance me any day! We had so much fun, and stayed out dancing for the whole evening. The guys stayed back at the house, Greg isn't much for dancing!!! It rained most of the day Saturday, but we went shopping under the tents, and Greg and I went to listen to the country music bands Saturday night. Sunday was the best of all the days, nice and sunny. We went to the civil war reinactment church service, it was simple yet had such a powerful message. Next we went down to the park, where the sorghum was being made the old fashioned way, by an old mill run by donkeys! Aaron loves the swinging bridge that goes over the Licking River, and the kids train ride. The last event of the weekend was the reinactment of the Battle of West Liberty, and it was such a wonderful history lesson for Aaron. He brought home a bow and arrows as a souveiner, which he will use against me, I am sure!!! For those of you who are sitting there going "what on earth is sorghum? ", it is almost the same as molasses. I had no idea until the first time I went there!!!
