Welcome to our homestead! Our home is a fun one, full of love, laughter, and downright goofiness sometimes! Check in on us as we tend to our rural 2 acres, raise our 11 year old son, fight fires and chase bad guys! ( That's just Greg, I'll stick with the gardening and cooking! ) We pray that we honor the Lord in the process, as we strive to grow in His grace.

Make Your Own Hairspray

I really love making my own health and beauty products. I have found that I can make so many things much healthier than their store bought counterparts, and much, much cheaper!!!! I thought that I should start passing a few of these recipes along, so ya'll can save some money too! Let me know if you all like the idea, and if you do I will continue to add more recipes! This one is by far the easiest and cheapest of them all - hairspray. Now, if you like the Aquanet type of hairspray, like hold your hair completely still in a windstorm like we did in the 80's, this is not for you! This is a soft, natural type of hold, that has seemed to work well for my longer hair. You will need-
* a fine mist spray bottle. I use an old hairspray bottle I saved.
* 1/2 cup water
* 2 tsp. sugar
* essential oil of your choice, I use lavender.
First bring your water to a boil, then add the sugar. Stir until dissolved, then add a few drops of essential oil. Allow mixture to cool completely, then add to your spray bottle.
That's it! I give the bottle a light shake before using. Mist your hair lightly and let dry. If you want a stronger hold, let it dry than add another light misting. I like this hairspray because it is beyond dirt cheap, and it doesn't build up on your hair. Enjoy!!!
