Welcome to our homestead! Our home is a fun one, full of love, laughter, and downright goofiness sometimes! Check in on us as we tend to our rural 2 acres, raise our 11 year old son, fight fires and chase bad guys! ( That's just Greg, I'll stick with the gardening and cooking! ) We pray that we honor the Lord in the process, as we strive to grow in His grace.

Happenings

I have been quite the blogging slacker lately. I have also been a Facebook slacker, too! I have really felt the Lord leading me away from too much computer time. I have found that it has become somewhat of a time waster for me lately. I have a habit of getting on the computer to look up one thing, and the next think I know, an hour has gone by! So if you don't see me post anywhere often, I am still out here!!! I still do check my email every day! :) I am really letting the Lord lead me on what I should be doing with my time, so I have been working busily around the Homestead, taking care of my family, working around the house, and trying some new crafts.

The past few weeks I have tried several new projects that have been so much fun and very useful! I have made lotion bars, homemade chapstick, my first batch of soap ( this one is lavender and smells so good! ) and today I made a dozen jars of grape jelly. Next I want to break in the new sewing machine to make new valences for the family room. I will let you know how they turn out!

Our biggest change so far of 2011 is sending Aaron to school. It has had some bumps along the way, but overall is going fairly well. He loves being with his friends, gym and music class, and of course, recess! He is a bit taken back on how much homework he has, and how much time is wasted in class with all of the time the teacher has to take to disipline other kids. He is also used to working in a quiet place instead of with constant commotion. I think in another month he will be adjusted and feeling really settled. I would honestly rather have him home, where I feel he learns and concentrates so much better, but school is where he wants and needs to be right now. Please pray for him to continue adjusting to the teacher and the schedule, and to the math curricullum, which is by far the worst I have ever seen!!! Greg and I have actually had to call the teacher so she could explain the work to us, so we can try to help him with homework! Craziness!

Our big project around here is putting in a new bathroom in the lower level. It was just an empty storage room before, but plumbed to be a bathroom. We have orderd the tub, and Greg has the room framed in. I will post pics next month when it is finished.

Since the weather outside is frightful, I will stay busy inside where the fire is so delightful! I am ever so ready to plant flowers and my garden, but from the looks of things, I will have awhile to wait.....
